Ingredients

honey 1 cup
red pepper flakes 1-2 tablespoons
cayenne pepper 1 to 2 teaspoons

Hot Honey is a yummy sweet and spicy sauce that you can drizzle over just about anything to make it even more delicious. I like to use in on fried chicken and on pepperoni pizza.

  1. Combine all of the ingredients into a small sauce pan over medium heat.
  2. Once it starts to get hot, stir to combine.
  3. Bring to a simmer for about 5 minutes and then remove from the heat.
  4. Store on your counter until you’re ready to use in a sealed jar.  If the mixture becomes thick, just heat it up in the microwave or in a a little hot water bath for a minute or 2 before drizzling.

This is great on fried chicken!

Tips:

*If you do not love super spicy food just use 1 tablespoon of the red pepper flakes and eliminate the cayenne pepper. Every bit of pepper makes this spicier. Mr. Teacher and I love the heat, so we use all of the spices..

*I am a huge lover of Penzeys Spices. I just think they have more flavor.

*Try to use local honey.

*This is great to use on store bought fried chicken to make it more special.

*Watch out for the pepper fumes when making this. I had a sneezing fit, but it was worth it.
