This easy, gorgeous ruby red sauce has a peppery ginger and citrus flavor is perfect for the holidays. I like to add it to sparkling wine or serve it on cracker with goat cheese or on top of cheesecake. I have also been known to put it on toast for a festive breakfast.
- Rinse the cranberries and pick out any that look yucky or soft. Remember fresh ones will bounce.
- Put the cranberries into a pot with the water and sugar.
- Place the pot over medium high heat.
- Cook for 10 minutes. You will start to hear and see the berries popping. Stir.
- Cook for about 10 more minutes.
- Stir and taste. You can add more sugar if you like, but I really like the tartness of the berries.
- Remove the sauce from the heat and allow it to cool a bit.
- Stir in ginger, orange zest, and orange juice.
- Serve! This stuff is amazing with goat cheese on crackers as a holiday appetizer or stirred into sparkling wine to make it super special.
